Marrickville House

- Located in Sydney's inner west suburb of Marrickville and tightly nestled amongst a number of late 19th and early 20th century single-storey double brick period homes, this freestanding Victorian dwelling called for a modern addition that would provide much needed warmth and amenity to its owners. Skylights bring in northern sunlight throughout the day into both first-floor bedrooms as well as the double height stairwell, spilling natural light into the kitchen below. Australian hardwoods and exposed recycled brick provide warmth and tactility throughout the home, whilst a polished concrete floor adds a thermally massive heat sink to the ground floor living areas.
